General Conference Booklet
Our project this time entailed making a gift booklet for someone based on a general conference talk from the latest conference. I chose a talk that I have listened to quite a number of times since conference, "Do You Want To Be Happy?" by Elder Yoon Hwan Choi.
The conditions that were set were that the booklet needed to be readable, easy to glean information from, even when not reading the full text and it has to be fully typographic. The only image exception we received was adding the picture of the person who gave the talk.
The other important thing was to ensure that the fonts we choose matched the essence, tone or mood of the message that the booklet shares. We were allowed some flexibility with regards to the grid and colors we would use.
We followed the same design principles we've been learning. We also had to make sure that we create some negative space so that the letters are not too crowded on the booklet. It needed to draw people and make them want to read. I made my spreads using Indesign.
The last part was making presenting the project on digital mockups and sharing it. I realized that I still have quite a bit to learn about photoshop. Finally we can rest and enjoy our own booklets, if we don't gift them to anyone else.
